  1. Father's Song

I was commissioned to write the soundtrack for a potential film called 'Cinderella - The True Story'. This was to be a gritty live action version of the fairy-tale, set against the backdrop of the Great Plague and the Napoleonic War.
This song was to play shortly after her father's death as she moves away from a party in full swing and sit's alone in his study.
Amazing vocal here by Nashville songwriter Sarah Spencer. She was 14 at the time!

Lyrics

Father's Song
27/7/98 - 25/8/98

Two by two wild horses, can't hold back the child
Caught in a whirlpool, of changing rules, at her father's side
Ride on down the meadow, ahead the angel's fly
But how the world it changes, when the rain fall's,
And the angel hides, the child inside

When you believe, no one sees
The things you dare to see
Summer blue, hopeless fool
It all will come to you

The world is spinning crazy, right before our eyes
Caught in a fever, bold armies, roll forward
You come when you're most needed
First and last of your kind
So bring on the pipers, work your magic
Let worlds collide, no more the child

CHORUS

You hold a four-leaf clover
Yet you feel your life is over
The lights are all swirling
And the dancers are whirling
And you stand before the open door of the great hall
Looking in... looking in

SOLO

Tonight I feel you near me, laughing with me now
They say, I have your eyes
The nights are, so long now, so long now.
